Spektrum DX6 controller

Hi sailors,

If your Spektrum DX6 controller has been outfitted with a more powerful internal rechargeable battery, you will likely find that sooner or later the internal .3 amp fuse will open up on you. The symptoms are that of a completely dead controller but is easily brought back to life by replacing the internal fuse after removing the battery and the six screws holding the back of the controller in place.

Unlike some other controllers, (read Futaba 2DR), the unit is easily reassembled after repair.

MY OKANAGAN STYLE VICTORIA WAS ALMOST A GONER IN THE LAGOON NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN IN MILWAUKEE, WI. I HAD LET A FRIEND SAIL HER AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO (MY TURN AT DINNER THAT NIGHT!) SHE WAS GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES. I MANAGED TO GROUND HER AT A REMOTE POINT AND RETRIEVED HER AFTER BRAVING POISON IVY LACED WOODS, AND SNAPPING TURTLE (I THINK!) INFESTED WATERS. I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT DID IT! HER RUDDER WASN'T JAMMED AND SHE HAD A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY PACK! SHE'S NEVER ACTED THAT WAY BEFORE...OTHER BOATS HAVE AND IT WAS ALWAYS FLEX IN THE RUDDER CONTROL ROD THAT WAS THE CULPRIT. THE ROD FROM STEP BY STEP HAS NO FLEX AND ISN'T VERY LONG, SO I DON'T THINK THAT'S IT! ANY IDEAS?

BEST REGARDS,

DOUG
